FAQ
Where are you based and do you travel?
I'm located in Ruther Glen, VA (conveniently between NOVA and RVA) and travel frequently throughout Virginia and the DMV, and often am in Central NY. If you would like me to photograph your story, send me a message through my contact page or social media. If you live outside of Virginia or New York (not including NYC), please let me know where you would like me to travel to and we can discuss options. Please note; if travel to a photo session takes longer than 6 hours and/or requires an overnight stay, a separate travel fee will be required. Mini Sessions have a set travel range of within 1 hour when booked alone.
Do you have a studio?
I do not have a set studio space at this time. I have a full mobile studio I can bring to just about anywhere! I have a variety of traditional backdrops and can offer digital backgrounds as well. Studio setup can include traditional flash units or continuous lighting for those with light-sensitive conditions. Studio setup is not available for mini-sessions due to the short timeframe.
When will we get our photos?
Your photos will be available via an online gallery within a maximum of 8 weeks. Many sessions have final galleries at 2 weeks. but this is dependent upon the type of session booked, required edits, and season. Mini and Portrait sessions 1 and 2 do not include a sneak peek. You can download all the photos from the gallery, but also share them, and order prints!
How many pictures will we receive?
Number of images will vary by package; there is no guaranteed maximum for any package. If a package description states 20-30 images, you may receive 24 images or 28. Quality always trumps quantity in my professional opinion, so I always choose the best and most significant photos to tell your story.
How does at-home sessions work?
If you have an awesome backyard/porch/patio or other landscaping features, your session can be done outdoors to capture beautiful natural light. I also have a full mobile studio! Lights can be setup in your favorite rooms in your home to assure correct lighting or a camera flash unit may be used to provide additional lighting to your home's natural light. Studio setup can include traditional flash units or continuous lighting for those with light-sensitive conditions. Studio setup is not available for mini-sessions due to the short timeframe.
How do you photograph boudoir?
I view boudoir as a very personal experience; therefore, I feel it is important for you to feel comfortable and confident. Your comfort during the session is of the utmost importance to me, so the location of the session is your choice. I have spaces in my home, with a contemporary Victorian-inspired theme, or boho garden; we may book at a studio if your choose; book a hotel that fits your style or theme; or in the privacy of your own home. Don't worry if you feel like you don't have a fancy house or room, I have a variety of props available to help transform your space into something awesome! We will have a meeting (or a few) beforehand to discuss layouts and styles that work best.
Do you only offer set packages?
Absolutely not! Many people find it easier to have set packages and prices, but if you have specific ideas or requests in mind, please ask! I am open to all ideas and concepts! Any of my set packages can accommodate different needs; for example, a mini engagement session can be booked under the standard package. Please keep in mind your final goal of number of images; if you desire more than the package set, please reach out to me to discuss your needs.
Can i use a mini-session for all my photo needs?
The short answer is no. Mini-sessions are designed to be quick; either basic traditional poses or captured candids. A styled shoot takes longer than 20 minutes to setup; elopement sessions should not be rushed through as those moments will not come again; and commercial needs like real estate and branding sessions will need more images than 20 minutes can produce. Mini-sessions are typically a set theme (Christmas, Spring, etc.) at a set location determined by the photographer. They tend to be lower cost than regular sessions because of the smaller amount of final images produced, and don't involve travel to different locations for the photographer.
